PostSubject: A walk in the Park   Wed Dec 26, 2007 1:29 am

As they arrived at the park as the team they were known for they found their usual spot and their picnic basket out and sat down to eat. Robin sat there as he always would, smiling and talking to his friends as if nothing was wrong at all but he had too the feeling that something wasn't right. He could just feel it. But he didn't talk about it. He didn't want to sound stupid and paranoid, even though he was already, but the team didn't have to know of that. Not yet at least.

Robin looked up at his friends and smiled to each and one of them. "It's been a year guys. A year since we kicked serious bad guy butt and my friends were there to my aid when I needed you the most. I hope one day I can repay this to all of you, with more than just my mere words of gratitude. But I can never say this enough to all. Thank you."

Starfire smiled as Robin obviously was holding a thanks speach for the team. She knew he was grateful that they had stood together in fighting Brother Blood and she knew they saved his life when he himself thought it was all over for him and his united team of Titans. "Robin... we are forever in your debt for you have always been there when we needed our strong leader. You have saved us all more than once and you will do it again with no doubt. Do not feel the need to thank us this much and don't feel in debt to us. We are indeed in debt to you."

*Oooc: I know, long time, no reply. but I'm stuck at the airport, so, why not post?*

Raven had tagged along with the others and was a little away from them as always. Even after all these years, she still liked to be alone. But she had opened up considerably since she had first joined the team. Listening to Robin's 'thanks speech', she listened to him and then to what Starfire had to say. Nodding her head in agreement, Raven answered, "I agree. You've helped us just as much as we have helped you in your time of need. There's no need to thank us. But, if there's anything we can do for you, let us know. It's the least we can do." Raven never let her amethyst eyes wonder from Robin's masked ones. She wanted him to know that she meant what she had said and that she had a feeling that he wasn't okay. It was nice enjoying time with her friends, but she knew this peace couldn't last forever. Evil was always out there, lurking. Right now, they were probably licking their wounds and thinking, planning of a new way to attack the innocent civilians that lived all across the world. It was only a matter of time before evil raised their heads up once again. And as always, the Teen Titans would always be there to thwart whatever evil appeared.

Cyborg was enjoying his time already at the park and could hardly wait to eat his bbq ribs. He could already smell them and the smell only made his mouth water even more. Though, upon hearing Robin's thanks, he smiled and held up a thumps up, "no problem man! We're a team, and we're all friends, it's only natural and right to help each other out. Know that you can count on us anytime!" Hopefully this year long peace throughout the world would continue even longer. It was nice, yet boring at the same time, to have nothing to do. They all deserved a nice vacation after all that they have fought. Trigon, Slade, Brother Blood, and countless other small villains.

After the speeches by Raven, Robin and Starfire, Beast Boy calmly walked over to a tree, and made himself comfortable while Cyborg cooked his ribs. He figured they could eat before the shenanigans of outdoor sports began. Usually, he would be hounding the other members of the team and munching on the the foods they had brought that didn't need to be cooked. However, he still couldn't shake the unease that was plaguing him. He supposed it was ironic that as mysterious as the team's fearless leader was, they could all tell that he was troubled. In the meantime, they couldn't tell that something was seriously bothering him as well, the supposed dim wit of the team. Still, it was nice that they were oblivious for the moment. It gave him time to think.

Robin would not be a tough nut to crack, and even when they got him to open up, who would it be to? What consequences would it have depending on the person who achieved such a feat?

Beast Boy considered the options. As far as he was concerned, himself and Cyborg had no chance at it. Be it the fact that neither of them were quite that close to Robin, or some matter of masculinity or whatever, he didn't see it happening any time soon. Mentally scratching two options off his list, he turned his thoughts to the girls. Starfire was a nice girl, and she certainly meant well. However, to him it seemed there was still too much she doesn't understand about human emotional states. Still, she was a warm and inviting character, and may seem easier to open up to.

Then of course, there was Raven. Raven, at one point, was by far the most complicated of the group. Even now, there was still much that no one quite understood about her. Each member of the group had there own experiences with her, each gaining one piece of her puzzle. Cyborg and himself had been inside her mind, Starfire had been inside her body, and Robin had her enter his own mind. Which it what made Beast Boy think she would be a choice candidate. She understood Robin better than any of the Titans. Especially so after the incident with Slade's chemical assault on Robin's mind. Whether they knew so or not, the closeness of their relationship had taken a spike after that event.

Shuffling such thoughts aside, Beast Boy turned his mind towards his own plight. He needed to vent some of his uneasiness to someone on the team. But who? Robin had enough to worry about, he shouldn't bug him with his instinctual warning alarms. Starfire may think he was pulling some sort of prank, or become obscenely upset. Cyborg would just laugh and call him a baby. Once more, his thoughts centered towards Raven. He had never tried to talk to her about his instincts before, so he wasn't quite aware of her possible reaction. Of course, it could be that her's would be much the same as the others.

Still... he supposed it was worth a try. He needed to get her alone, and try to make her realize that he was serious.

Until then,

"Hey guys, I brougth water balloons!"

Robin just smirked at the girls. But why did he have the feeling that some fight was going on between those girls to step forward and see who could make him feel best? He shook it off. Perhaps it was just him thinking again. Not a good thing really. Not good at all. Instead of doing something stupid or saying something that might put him in a weird position he sat down and looked at the delicious food. But he wasn't hungry. Not at all. But he had to eat something or questions about why he wasn't eating anything would stir among his friends. Then there was this other feeling of something was wrong. What could it be? Was he forgetting something? Was it something he had to remember and he forgot? He wasn't sure. But he would think about it. NO! No thinking. The last time he was allowed to think something went terribly wrong. His team was turned to ice by Brain and his companions in evil. Dammit what he wouldn't give for the darkest corner of his room right now. To just be allowed to be alone and do whatever he wanted. But alas he was here to enjoy himself with his best friends. But were they his friends? Were they just here because he was a good hero and crime fighter? What if they weren't thinking about him as a great person but just leader? Dammit he hated the doubt feeling. He was never sure about anything. It was always the 'what ifs'. It was clearly bothering him. He had to stop asking himself that many questions or else the others would notice a crack in his wall of pride and strong feelings.
So instead of just sitting there and doing nothing he grabbed some food and pretended to be hungry. Really hungry, so he just ate away, even if it disgusted him more than make him feel comfortable.
Though the breaking sound of Beast Boy's voice through the silence made him lose all thoughts of doubt and other negative things. The thought about water balloons did sound good right now. Oh yes. Perhaps a game of watering his friends would help his mind to just shut down at least for only five minutes. Now that would be something.
"Sounds great Beast Boy. I'm sure we'll have a great time with those."

Starfire sat down right beside Robin as if it was her place to sit there. She just did it. Perhaps because she liked Robin a lot. No one really knew except her. She took the food and the mustard of course and began to eat what she loved to eat. But as the voice of Beast Boy reached her ears she smiled dearly and answered, "Oh yes. Let's get really wet."

Robin looked surprised at Starfire. "Okay... now that just sounded wrong."

Quietly, she watched everyone as they did what they wanted. Being and empath, she was able to sense everyone's emotions, their pains. She could heal emotional pain as well as physical pain. She could take their fears, their anger, and let them come to her, where she later expel them. Yes, accepting their pain, letting it become one with her was painful, but if it meant helping the ones she had come to call her friends, accepting that pain was wroth it. Being an empath was difficult at times, for she could feel the pain so easily and she longed to heal all the pain around her. But after living on Earth for so long, she had learned to create a wall within her that helped her ignore all the suffering around her. She could channel her thoughts, her feelings in a sense. She had also abandoned the teachings of the temple. Pacifism at all costs. Violence was not aloud, at least not for her. But after finding their friends, seeing them in trouble, she simply could not stand there idly and do nothing. Forsaking the teaching of Azarath and their pacifist ways, she learned a way to control her powers, her darker side and still fight. Raven was secluded into deep thought, thinking about more then one subject when the voice of Beast Boy reached her ears. Hearing what he had, she simply rolled her eyes and said emotionlessly, "I'll pass." She'd simply watch her friends fight their silly game and enjoy herself that way. She still wasn't much for games. Yes, she could be devious when wanted. But being devious wasn't something she did often.

Cyborg was enjoying cooking his ribs and the smell of freshly cooked meat and the thought of eating it made him drool. Cyborg had just taken out his lovely ribs and was soaking them with Bar-b-que when he heard Beast Boy's words. "Oh common green bean, you're so mine!" He called Beast Boy a lot of names in fun. BB, salad head, anything green related, he said, but most of the time he stuck with BB. Fighting with the others in this fun sport would be fun. But when he heard Raven's usual answer, he thought about trying to convince her but decided against her. She would just refuse. Placing her ribs down, she approached the others, "You've all going down!"

Beast Boy place the buckets full of balloons down in the middle of an open area, opening up to the glorious rubber projectiles contained within. He then began to explain a few interesting rules to the rest of them

"Okay, everyone listen up. You get to grab two balloons, and then we scatter to opposite sides of the field. In order to get to more balloons, you've got to leave yourself very exposed by running to the center to reach the buckets. Oh, and no powers or gadgets people!"

Beast Boy grabbed two balloons from the bucket, and ran off with comical speed to a patch of trees, not awaiting the others.

Robin sighed and got to his feet. He really didn't want to do this but he had to act normal to them. He had to act like he was still the same as he used to be. He just had to play for a little while and then they would most likely go home and do nothing as they used to. It was just... no... it didn't matter. He had to stop thinking like this. So he just put on a fake smile and ran off to play with his friends. He knew Starfire would love the game for she was up to anything. Seriously he thought Starfire was a great girl but he never saw her as more than his friend. It was different with Raven. They had a bond. A bond he felt like he didn't want to let go of anytime soon. It was like every time he looked at her, his heart skipped a beat or two and his pulse would rise. His bloodstream would rise up in certain places he didn't even want to think of right now. He didn't know what this meant really. It was confusing to him. Raven was a nice girl. Different... but nice. Sometimes he didn't understand her ways but he didn't expect her to tell every little secret about herself, even when he knew a lot, that others didn't know about. She had told him things she hadn't told anyone else. And he would keep these things within his mind and soul, never to tell anyone of her secrets unless she wanted him to or told others herself. Raven was like a book... not an open book though. A mystery book without an ending. Sad really. She needed a happy ending he thought to himself. She was with no doubt beautiful in her own way and something about her just made him feel good. But he hadn't told her his secrets. His darkest and deepest secrets of all. Would he ever tell anyone? He didn't know. Sometimes he wanted to but he always stopped himself, before he did it. He didn't want pity. He hated it more than anything. He just wanted to be a hero and stop others from going through the same things as he had done.

Starfire was immediately in the game when Beast Boy ran of. She looked toward Robin and flew toward him. "Can we be on the same side?"

"Sure... why not?"

"Great! We will beat the two others right?"

"We'll sure do."

Robin gave Raven a quick glance, wondering how she could stand everything she knew was going on behind her back. What was being said behind her back. Sometimes he just wanted to shut the others up real good, but also then he held himself back. He wanted so much but he never did it. What was wrong with him? Why couldn't he just do what other normal people did? Oh yeah... he wasn't normal himself. He was a freak show. Born a freak show, and raised a freak show. Once a freak show, always a freak show.

Sitting on the cool green grass that was underneath the large oak tree, Raven watched her friends, her teammates play with the water balloons through her amethyst eyes. She had no desire to join in the pointless games. It wasn't her way. She preferred something with at least a little meaning, something that didn't waste her time completely. While watching her comrades, she noticed Robin glancing at her. But why? However, she didn't ponder the question heavily. She would simply enjoy this time off in her own way. Closing her eyes, she rested her wrists on her knees and began to quietly meditate. Yes, she knew very well what her friends thought of her. The things they called her. Witch, creepy, scary. It always hurt. No matter how many times she heard these things, she always was hurt. But she always hid her pain the best she could. While she thought about what they had said to her, what they often called her, she thought about the one time she had allowed herself to be used, fooled by someone she believed to see her as something other then creepy. Something other then a freak. But in the end he had used her to meet his own needs. Even though she had friends, friends she would die for, she wished for someone to understand her. Someone that would treat her as normal as possible. And in her mind, the closest one to treating her like a normal person was Robin. He was the one she trusted more than anyone else. He was the one she confided in the most. The one she trusted with her deepest secrets. She knew he wouldn't betray her secrets, her feelings. Sighing heavily, she curled her hands slightly, forming half fists. She didn't need to be thinking about the past or her feelings right now. She needed to meditate. Inhaling a deep breath, she focused herself once again. Though, she wouldn't admit it, or perhaps she refused to accept it, she cared for Robin more than a friend. That she saw him more than a brother. But her feelings couldn't stay hidden forever...could they? Even though Robin hadn't told her his deepest secrets, his feelings, she would always be there to listen. She was always wiling to help those she cared for if she could.

Cyborg smiled as he saw Robin and Starfire together and knew that he had BB on his side. "Common BB, let's kick their butts thoroughly shall we?" He would enjoy fighting against his friends in a friendly way like this. He knew Raven wasn't going to join them, but didn't understand why. Didn't she ever relax? Didnít she ever stop being so...creepy? Shrugging his shoulders lightly, he pushed his thoughts away. She probably wouldn't change. Oh well...each to their own he guessed.

"You know it Cyborg. Heh, if only I didn't say no powers, I could just sniff them out," Beast Boy said in a disappointed tone. Regardless, he stood up straight, and began moving through the trees with faux-stealth maneuvers that probably looked ridiculous.

"Hmm, you didn't happen to see which direction they ran off in? I wasn't paying attention," Beast Boy said sheepishly while rubbing the back of his. He was already having fun somehow, even though nothing had really happened yet.

Robin was up in a tree using his magnificent abilities he had learned from the circus in his previous life... before he became Robin. Luckily for him he didn't have powers so he could do whatever he wanted. He saw Beast Boy approach from below and smirked. He grabbed one of his water balloons and threw one right down in the head of Beast Boy. "Bombs away!" Good... this game would get his mind off of what troubled him. This way his team wouldn't get suspicious about his moody moments.
After throwing the water balloon in Beast Boys face he jump from the branch, he was crouching on, to another, bigger branch.

Starfire knew she was not allowed to use her powers which included flying, so she would have to stay on foot, while Robin stayed in the treetops. She was not as good on the ground as she was in the air but she would try her best for her friends to have fun. Her suspicions of Robin not being okay vanished when she saw Robin throwing a water balloon at Beast Boy. Today would be a fun day.

Cyborg could hardly believe Beast Boy's words. "What!? You lost them already? The game hasn't even started!" Sighing, he looked around, it wouldn't be easy finding Starfire or Robin when he couldn't use his machine half. As he looked around, he suddenly felt water splash onto him. Seeing Beast Boy soaked already, he just started to laugh. "I think your question has been answered Salad head." With this, he looked up in the trees and looked for Robin. With a water balloon in his hand, he tried to find his leader so he could easily and happily soak him. This would be a blast. Nothing like a good old fashion game with your friends.

Beast Boy was hit smack in the face with a water balloon at that moment. And with impressive force, as well. Frantically grabbing his own balloon, he searched the surrounding trees for his assailant. Thinking he saw something that resembled Robin, he tossed his balloon high into the trees.

((Well, since we really need something to happen, who wants to kind of shorten/skip over the balloon fight so we can get to the plot development?))

Robin was not there at the moment since he was still in the trees above the ground. He saw Beast Boy tossing a water balloon and saw it gong straight for Starfire and shouted out, "Star look out!"

Starfire heard Robin's call out for her and turned around only to get all splattered with water right in the face. She looked shocked at first but then grabbed herself a water balloon and ran in Beast Boys direction. She would get her revenge

Meanwhile Robin just smiled and jumped toward Cyborg with a water balloon at the ready. "Bombs away!"

----Elsewhere

A figure stood tall in an underground briefing room. A number of people were gathered around him staring up at the balcony he stood upon. The man paced back and forth, trying to properly articulate his thoughts. These were not robots, but hired mercenaries. They needed to be properly encouraged before being sent out on assignment.

About 20 people were in the crowd, five teams of four people. The five squad leaders were particularly menacing, each concealed with a black cloak. They carried an air of danger and evil.

"My friends, this is the beginning. I've gathered you all here from the farthest corners of the world. Each one of you is legendary in the circles of the underworld, and yet you all have answered my humble call. You flatter me, and I assure you that the rewards will be grand. Today, we put forth my plot. The resistance you shall face will be heavy. But persevere, and your names will be written down, to be remembered for all time. Well, squads, you've got your orders. Squad leaders, stay here and dine with me."

5 people moved out to attack the largest bank within Jump City. Another turned to wreak havoc at the mall. The final would head for the cinema.

"Now squad leaders, your mission will come a bit later. It shall be far more dangerous, but with me at your side, we can accomplish it."

Slade's plan was in motion, and the whole of the city will be pulled into a vortex of pain very soon...

While jumping toward Cyborg he heard his communicator's alarm go off and as he landed on the ground on his hands he flipped forward onto his feet and reached for his communicator and saw the city was being attacked in three places. "Titans!"

Starfire looked up when she heard Robin's serious word and knew there was something important to say. She flew toward him and landed close to him and asked, "What is it Robin?"

Robin looked at Starfire and said, "The bank, the cinema and the mall is being attacked. We need to separate to take the guys down. Starfire you take the cinema. Beast Boy and Cyborg, you take the mall, while Raven and I deal with the bank robbers. Titans Go!"

Cyborg had a water balloon in his hand and was searching for Robin and Starfire. Seeing BB already had Star, he searched for the highly agile stoplight. As he was searching for the teen wonder, he suddenly heard Robin's words and looked up just to be washed by cold water. "All right Stoplight, you're paying!" He was just about to throw a water balloon at Robin when he suddenly heard Robin's serious voice. Knowing he wasn't fooling around, he dropped the balloon that was in his hand and rushed to Robin's side. Hearing that the Mall, the cinema and the bank were being attacked, he knew that the peace in JC was finally over. Hearing that he and BB were to take the mall, Cy nodded, "Common green genes, we got butt to kick."

She was lost in her own world, in a way, she was in her own dimension, where she could feel almost everyone's emotions. Not just her friends, but the people around her. Their happiness, their fears, their sadness. This was what she sometimes felt when meditating. She sometimes let her empathic powers travel through the city. Though, as she was meditating, contorting the darkness within her, her meditation, her time of peace was soon interrupted when she heard the familiar seriousness of Robin's voice. Knowing something was wrong, she instantly opened her eyes and rose to her feet, levitating over toward the others; she listened to Robin's command and nodded in understanding. Whoever was planning this, their plans would be thwarted.
